Advancing health equity through community partnerships in Central Pennsylvania.
Adult vaccine coverage is lower in racial and ethnic minority groups than among White populations. Many social, geographic, political, economic, and environmental factors create challenges to vaccination access and acceptance. These factors include job access and working conditions, gaps in healthcare access, and mistrust in medical systems. These factors result from both historical and current experiences of racism and discrimination.
The Penn State REACH project will work with community partners to implement practices to increase awareness, confidence, demand, and access to flu, COVID-19, and other routinely recommended adult vaccines.
By implementing practices to increase awareness, confidence, demand, and access we hope to see increased demand and access to vaccination opportunities.
The increase in demand and access to vaccinations will lead to improved health behaviors and outcomes for our priority population.
Promote food service and nutrition guidelines and the expansion of existing fruit and vegetable voucher incentives and/or produce prescription programs.
